The Place in Print team is pleased to be able to accept requests for private commissions. Depending on your style preferences, we can either undertake the work in-house or work with one of our collaborators to produce your perfect design.
In the past, we have created bespoke wedding invitations, illustrations of shop fronts and houses, as well as prints of schools to be used as fundraising tools.
The process begins with a discussion about your commission idea (get in touch by email or by telephone - 0203 302 0010). We'll let you know whether your task is something we can take on, as well as giving you an idea of timescales, pricing and process. We will keep you in the loop throughout the design process, giving you a preview of the draft artwork before printing to ensure that you are completely happy with the end result.
We are happy to consider commissions for all types of subject matter, although we do tend to focus on built form, so have a particular expertise when it comes to buildings, houses, streets and vistas.
The time taken to complete your project will vary depending on the subject matter and printing requirements, as well as our workload at the time. Simple subjects can be completed in around three weeks, while more complex scenes may take longer. We will confirm timescales with you once we know the full details of your project and particular requirements.
Please note that we do tend to be fairly busy in November and December, so if you want a personal project completed in time for Christmas, please get in touch as early as possible.
Pricing varies considerably depending on the complexity of the design. Assuming you are commissioning a print, there are also different costs associated with the physical size of the print and framing/mounting options. As a guide, the starting price for a straightforward building commission, with framed A4 print is £300.
